We’re pleased to announce our partnership with Dairy Methane Action Alliance – a group of food and dairy companies committing to measure methane emissions and develop action plans that will cut methane from supply chains with support from the NGO Environmental Defense Fund. As the first California dairy to join, we’re proud to continue our work on innovation and mitigation of this climate-warming gas and help secure a healthy food future for all. BIG News: Momentum continues in driving down methane emissions as Starbucks ☕ and Clover Sonoma 🥛 sign onto the Dairy Methane Action Alliance (DMAA)! This powerful Alliance convenes companies with dairy in their supply chains to reduce methane from cows and move the needle on climate change. First announced at #COP28, the Bel Group, Danone, General Mills, Kraft Heinz, Lactalis USA and Nestlé launched DMAA with Environmental Defense Fund. Now with our new members, the reach of our climate impact expands! Why this matters: 🐄👨🌾 Cutting methane is the fastest way to slow the rate of global warming and ~10% of its human-caused emissions comes from dairy. In fact, methane pollution from 2023 will warm our planet more in the next 10 years than all the CO2 from fossil fuels in the same year. 💼💲 We can help farmers and companies bolster business continuity and supply chain resilience as the planet warms. 📝📉 By the end of this year, DMAA companies agreed to account for and publicly disclose methane emissions from their dairy supply chains and create a public methane action plan to drive down emissions. Through DMAA, EDF is working to ensure that every bite of yogurt and sip of milk has as low greenhouse gas emissions as possible as soon as we can!
