Without a doubt best choice for window coverings in North Bay.
We were impressed with the quality products, fair prices, and expert installation, but most importantly with Phil. His patience, honest approach, and support made the purchase decisions easy.

Phil came to my home, measured and without pressure gave me my quote to sit on before making a descicion. When I made changes and decided not to do every window, they changed it immediately! And my order was placed! They kept me updated on shipping times and when it came time to install, it was quick and efficient. Couldn't recommend this place enough!

I recommend this business for the professional, reliable service. Outstanding customer support after seven months of owning beautiful plantation shudders throughout our home and one vertical blind on a sliding door. Phil gave us the best price after we had three way higher estimates. No up selling, no pressure, friendly, professional honest product provided. We saved thousands no joke. Discount Best Blinds & Shutters! What an apropos name for this locally owned business! We had a very successful good first meeting with Phil, the owner, who proceeded with explaining about the product and also suggestions on what would look best in our house. He measured all the windows and didn't take a long time to do so. Very professional but not stiff! The shutters were beautiful and the installers were so fast and did a clean job! This business really deserved 5 stars. Thank you Phil and crew!

Although we weren't satisfied with the recent repairs done on a blind that failed (see my 3-star review of August 22), the owner asked for a chance to make things right. After waiting a month to see if the blind were going to fail again and when that seemed likely, I went in to talk with her and had a very positive feeling about our conversation. So I agreed to let them try again.
I believe they sent the blind directly to Hunter Douglas this time and it was returned and re-installed yesterday. No initial problems this time, and the repair seems excellent.
They do stand by their products and they do try to assure that a customer is satisfied. I've had excellent experiences in buying blinds new from them and the first repair work was well done too. This time it required more attempts to make things work but they didn't give up. And I'm glad that I didn't either.

Aug 22, 2022Previous reviewAs you will see from my previous review, we were more than satisfied with the blinds we bought and the excellent repair work on three Honeycombs that had lost the ability to open and close. Now I wonder if they've changed the people they hire for repair work?
Another blind failed and the experience was less pleasant this time. They came on schedule and took the blind, but it took about three weeks to return and reinstall it. Once in place, it could only be pulled down to within about 8 inches of closing completely. The installers immediately saw the problem and took it back for correction.
Then another long wait of three weeks or more and the blind is back--and more or less working. The last few inches are harder to pull down than the rest of the blind and sometimes I have to be careful raising it. It can start to fold rather than smoothly fold up. I've waited to write this review because I suspect this blind is going to fail again. In any case, it's not the same quality of repair work we had before.
The fee was reasonable ($125) and set in advance. That didn't change, so I give them credit for honesty. I would use them again for buying blinds, but not for repairing blinds. (The repair work done on the first 3 blinds is still working smoothly!)Jul 29, 2021Previous reviewWhen we bought our current house, nine years ago, it was empty----in need of furniture, rugs and blinds. For blinds, we went to Discount Blinds and bought Honeycomb Shades for the 5 largest windows. After all these years of daily use, 3 of them lost the ability to "honeycomb" and could no longer be raised.
So we decided to replace all 5 with new ones. We like this type of blind.
I told the man who came to measure the windows what we were planning and he said, "Why? The 3 failed blinds can be repaired." That's something we hadn't thought possible. He took those 3 with him, put up replacement blinds for the two-plus weeks it took for the repairs, returned and reinstalled our original blinds which now work perfectly again.
We were prepared to pay well over a thousand dollars for new blinds and were charged just over three hundred for the repairs. I'm sure they would have made a lot more profit from selling us new blinds, but they told us the truth and then made it happen.
That type of honesty is hard to come by and it's one reason we prefer using local dealers. Large corporations could care less about satisfied customers.

Phil did a good job suggesting a cost effective quality product and helped us solve the issues involving an old single paned windows needing a long cord. The blinds turned out perfectly and were expertly and well installed. The old blinds were taken away also. we are very satisfied.
